Golden Root Academy wasn't born in a boardroom. It was born in the quiet, exhausting, beautiful, sometimes heartbreaking experience of being a mother and deciding the world needed something better for your child. Two mothers. Two very different journeys. One shared belief: that every child deserves a place where they are safe, valued, challenged, and genuinely loved. That belief became Golden Root Academy & Respite Center.

KANDREKIA REED CO-FOUNDER
Kandrekia knows what it feels like to search for care that truly understands your child because she has lived it. As the mother of a child with special needs, Kandrekia spent years navigating a system that too often offered sympathy but not solutions. That experience didn't discourage her. It ignited her. Throughout her career, Kandrekia built businesses, led complex operations, and managed teams across multiple industries. But her most important role has always been being a mother and that perspective shapes everything she does at Golden Root. She didn't build this academy despite her family experiences. She built it because of them. Kandrekia's vision for Golden Root is clear: a place where every child is not just supervised but truly understood. Where families who have felt overlooked finally feel seen. Where the word care means something real not just a service, but a commitment. For Kandrekia, Golden Root is not a business. It is a legacy built on service, compassion, and the belief that every child deserves to reach their fullest potential.
KOMAL DAMANI CO-FOUNDER
Komal brings to Golden Root something rare: the precision of a Chartered Accountant who spent four years at Ernst & Young, and the warmth of a mother who understands, bone-deep, what it means to leave your child in someone else's care. After nearly a decade working at the intersection of finance and business strategy, Komal made a decision that surprised some and inspired many she stepped away from the corporate world to build something that mattered closer to home. As a mother of two boys, she has lived the anxiety of drop-off mornings, the guilt of long workdays, and the profound relief of knowing your child is truly safe, truly seen, and truly cared for. Komal also understands a challenge many families quietly carry: finding compassionate, qualified respite care can feel nearly impossible. That gap became personal to her and it.
